1909 - 2004

Garfield lived in Georgetown for approximately 88 years.

He attended Chapel St. School and Georgetown District High School.

He worked for the Georgetown Herald for 50 years covering news and sports.

He had a passion for The Georgetown Fall Fair spanning back to the 1930s serving as President and Secretary for many years.

He was a founding member of the Georgetown Hockey Heritage.

Mr. McGilvray also served on Georgetown council for several years throughout the 1940s and 50s.

He was a recipient of the Queen's Silver Jubilee Medal and Halton Hills Herald Pioneer Citizen of the year award.
