Here it is nearly two full decades since leaving G.D.H.S., and I am
delighted to be a part of this website and to enjoy sharing recollections.
My time here was brief in comparison to other life events, yet the moments
and memories of my time at G.D.H.S. are indelible. The test of time has
been
proven, and I am honoured to have been part of an environment, no matter
how brief, which planted innumerable seeds in my life. Above all else, my
hunger for knowledge was fully discovered and lives on even now. My love
for literature and writing was "discovered" by the most prolific teacher I
have ever had the privilege to study with, Mr. Bingham. He receives my
full
gratitude for being a consummate instructor and guide. There are many
wonderful teachers of G.D.H.S. both past and present, and my thanks go to
all of them.
Life has been an experience for all of us who were once students, to say
the
least. Most of us have married, some more permanently, some not so. Many
have children, and now send them to G.D.H.S. at this juncture in life.
Some
of us have traveled thousands of miles, others have grown deeper roots in
the community known as "home". Each of us who was once upon a time a
relatively blank page in the general scheme of things, now has written
much
detail into our own personal stories and we are fortunate enough to
continue
to do so with each movement of the hands on the proverbial clock.
Like a forever year book, my own pages continue to fill constantly with
new
experiences, new situations, and perpetual growth. Yet, none of these
events could ever have sprouted without the guiding hands and wise help of
those teachers who taught me not only to learn new things, but to think
and
apply all of this as well. And now it is my pleasure to revisit a place
